Voice,
given form.
Speak anywhere on your Mac. Murti carves your raw voice into finished text — English, Hindi, and Hinglish — entirely on your device.
brew install technomad641/murti/murti
Finished text, not a transcript
Everything runs locally on the Apple Silicon GPU. No account, no upload.
Dictate anywhere
Press ⌘⌥D, speak, press again. It types at your cursor in any app.
Instant when you stop
Transcribes while you speak, so stopping is near-instant — no wait that grows with how long you talked.
English · Hindi · Hinglish
True code-switching. Hindi comes out romanized by default, or Devanagari — your choice.
On-device
Whisper large-v3-turbo runs on your GPU via MLX. Private and offline.
Pause & duck audio
Music and video auto-pause while you speak and resume after; other audio ducks out of your mic.
Learns your words
An auto-learning dictionary remembers the names and jargon you dictate.
Local insights
Words, words-per-minute, time saved and streaks — computed and stored on your Mac.
Inspect studio
Point Murti at any app you own and read its architecture from the shipped binary. No source.
Cloud preview
Meetings, accounts, team and sync are previewed in the app — the dictation core never needs them.
Three keystrokes
Click into any text field
A message, a doc, your editor — wherever the cursor is blinking.
Press ⌘⌥D and speak
Murti listens and transcribes on-device as you talk.
Press ⌘⌥D again
Your finished sentence lands right where the cursor was.
Install in one line
On an Apple Silicon Mac with Homebrew. The first launch sets up on-device models once; after that murti starts instantly.
brew install technomad641/murti/murti
Prefer source, or want the double-click app? See the install guide.
Your voice stays yours
Transcription runs entirely on-device — your audio is never uploaded for dictation. Settings, dictionary and insights live in ~/.config/murti, and the dashboard binds to 127.0.0.1 only.
